Aoy is proud to be the proprietor of the first registered Traditional Thai Massage studio in San Mateo. She is a Certified Thai Massage Practitioner who has an extensive background and experience using Traditional Thai Massage to solve individual problems in her guest's body. Aoy initially trained among Thailand’s elite masters of this ancient art form directly from the source of Thailand’s repository of knowledge of traditional healing arts at Wat Po in Bangkok. While the art of Thai massage has been developed by many people over the years, Wat Po’s teaching program in Traditional Thai Massage is world-renowned for its quality and authenticity. Wat Po is popularly known as the Temple of The Reclining Buddha. In the 1830’s the King of Thailand designated Wat Po as the country’s official repository of information for Thai healing. From that time, many fields of contemporary knowledge and technology were gathered at Wat Po: for example, history, religion, literature, arts, culture, medical science, physical therapy and pharmacy. The Wat Po Traditional Thai Medical and Massage School was opened to the public in 1955. Wat Po is the first Thai Medical school registered under The Ministry of Education of Thailand. Wat Po offers 4 basic courses of Thai medical arts: Thai pharmacy, Thai medication, Thai midwifery and Thai massage. Aoy and her family moved from Thailand in 2005. She worked for a Traditional Thai Massage provider in Los Angeles and she also worked for a well-known Traditional Thai Massage provider in San Francisco. In October 2008, she opened the Boontharika Traditional Thai Massage studio in San Mateo, where she practices her art of Traditional Thai Massage. She started with a few clients in San Francisco and the word of mouth from grateful and satisfied clients helped her to build up a well-regarded practice.
